The First Floor

The First Floor

This beautiful 3219 square foot farm house was built in 1830.   It is filled with nooks and crannies and tons of character.  The floors are solid, level and are in wonderful shape given the age of this historic home. Most of the door hardware are latches or original ceramic or glass door knobs.

The exterior is in need of paint, and as we have been unable to decide on a color, we will let you decide what color you will paint your new home. The same is true of the shingles, which need to be replaced soon. We were undecided on whether to replace with shingles or a metal roof...once again we decided to let the new owner decide.  The home has two front entrances, one which is used as a formal entrance and the additional front entrance. We use this one to replace the eggs in the fridge on the front porch where we sell our country eggs! There is an additional side entrance which is used on a daily basis.

Kitchen

The side entrance leads to the kitchen. The kitchen is large and beautiful and features windows that open up to the whole farm and barnyard. You can spend hours there at the kitchen table watching the animals in the fenced in pastures around the house and the free range chickens in the farm yard.  The kitchen features beautiful cherry wood cupboards and dark green Corian counters. The kitchen contains a mini pantry door that is one hundred years old. The kitchen features a professional Viking stove/oven/convection oven with a new backsplash. The kitchen features a five foot chopping block island for a quick bite at stools but perfect for prepping foods! The appliances are all stainless steel, and the floor is linoleum.

Main Living Room

The formal entry features a transom door with sidelights that leads to a sitting room, a formal staircase leading to the second floor, and the main living room. The main living room was refinished in cherry (floors, trim, pillars, accents) before we moved in. We installed a cherry chair rail to break up the living room and sitting room.  The living room also features a large, working fireplace.

Laundry & Mud Room

What farm is complete without a mudroom for the barn boots? This combination laundry and mud room has its own exterior entrance and contains a new stacked front-load washer/dryer, a utility sink, and a set of stairs that lead to the basement. This room also houses a freezer and wall of shelves. There is a door to the back porch, which currently houses an additional refrigerator.

Formal Dining Room

The large formal dining room features raised panel wainscoting and is lined with windows that overlook the barn yard.

Bathroom

The downstairs bathroom was recently remodeled with a new sink and vanity, tile floor, and chair rail.  The bathroom features the original crown molding and inset cabinet and shelf. The portion over the built in tub has a secret door and storage space. The bathroom door features a transom.  There is another door in the bathroom which leads to the laundry/mud room.

Bedroom

The guest room is steps away from the downstairs bath.

Office

The room we are currently using as an office can easily be used as an extra bedroom or TV/play room.  The office is a very large room with high ceilings and a faux fireplace with decorative tile and mantle. This room features Large Barrier replacement windows specially designed for the home in order to accommodate the  decorative woodwork.  There is also a door that can be used as an entrance to the office.
